Summary: The Database Administrator position will require experience with the support and maintenance of custom databases in a multi-server development and production environment. The opportunities for the team and this position include new development and enhancement of existing business applications for future growth and implementation of industry best practices.

Essentials: To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies to perform the essential functions of this position:

• Possess administrative skills with Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 or higher.

o Install & configure SQL Server in test and production environments

o Perform backups and index maintenance, scheduled appropriately

o Configure log shipping and replication.

o Create SQL Jobs and configure logging.

o Tune Indexes, analyze queries and security.

o Troubleshoot locking, blocking, and deadlock issues.

o Maintain schema changes and scripts using version control (Visual Studio, TFS and ADO).

o Actively monitor overall system health, e.g. low disk space, log growth, etc.

o Assist in development of stored procedures, views, indices, etc. as needed

• Respond promptly to and resolve database-related alerts, and emails, and tickets.

• Take ownership, support, and follow-through of assigned deliverables, and adjust well to changes in priority.

• Work closely and effectively with business and technical teams in a cross-functional and cross-matrixed business and technical environment.

• Identify trends and patterns in support requests that indicate a need for process or application revision.

• Develop accurate estimates of effort and timelines and ensure that all assignments are completed accurately and within approved delivery schedules.

• Take ownership, support, and follow-through of assigned deliverables, and adjust well to changes in priority.

• Respond promptly to and resolve database-related alerts, and emails, and tickets.

• Provide off-hours on call support (monitoring, installs/patches, migrations, etc.), in rotation with other team members.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree (Information Technology or related field) or equivalent administration experience required.

• Three to five (3-5) years of database experience with Microsoft SQL Server as a DBA required.

• Proficiency at Microsoft SQL Server Structured Query Language (SQL) required.

• Required to possess high-level skills with MS SQL Server 2008 R2 or higher.

• Competency in using Microsoft Office tools (i.e., Word, Excel, Visio) is required.

• Willingness and commitment to learn.

• Good verbal and written English communications and organizational skills are essential to this position.

• Ability to prepare accurate, concise yet detailed written communication (e.g., documentation, deployment plans, status reports, meeting notes) that may be shared and understood by all levels of the organization.

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as instructions and procedure manuals.

• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Critical and creative thinking in analyzing problems and making practical recommendations for solutions.

• Ability to troubleshoot problems.

• Ability to occasionally travel in the event a business need arises.

• MS Azure Cloud experience preferred.

• CommVault experience preferred.

• PowerShell experience preferred.
