- Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship
- Clearance Requirements: National Crime Information Center (NCIC) with fingerprints and Drug Screen.
- Estimated Compensation: $200,000.00 – $210,000.00 year.
- Type of Employment: Full-Time = 40 hours per week.
- Travel: Travel may be required under this contract.
- Relationship: 1099 Independent Contractor.
Working Hours
The Dentist shall be able to provide services to the Zuni Comprehensive Community Health Center Monday through Friday from 07:30 AM to 05:30 PM each day, excluding federal holidays.
Mandatory Qualifications
- Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD).
- A graduate of an accredited school of Dentistry.
- State License in Dentistry in good standing to practice dentistry in the United States or any US territories as required by Indian Health Services.
- Experience that equips the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the position’s duties, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled.
- Knowledge of anesthetic and pharmaceutical requirements
- Must have a current BLS certification.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Provides examination in advanced Diagnostic, Prophylactic, and preventative dental procedures in treating patients with periodontal disease and other related dental abnormalities.
- Performs routine and minor complexity endodontics, including 1st and 2nd molars, prosthodontics, periodontics, pedodontics, routine and complex oral surgery, and preventative orthodontic services.
- Perform prosthodontics by examining patient mouth impressions and bite registration for crowns, bridges, and dentures. This includes temporary setups in the patients mouth and fitting and inserting finished appliances.
- Administer local anesthesia, nitrous oxide, and analgesia.
- Educate patients about good oral health practice and participate in educational programs to improve health conditions.
- Become familiar with various dental equipment and its proper use for patient care.
- Monitors preventative maintenance for all dental equipment and may complete minor repairs as needed.
- Review patient medical records and dental history for evidence of past and present conditions for proper dental treatment.
- Reviews and interprets x-rays to identify tooth structure.
- Independently manage his/her caseload of patients referred to for dental evaluation and treatment.
- Documentation in the electronic health record (EHR), other IHS forms related to each patient encounter promptly, and providing necessary documentation related to billing.
- Maintain satisfactory standards of competence in this profession (professional judgement, diagnosis for specific medical conditions or treatment).
- Abides to all India Health Services and Zuni Comprehensive Community Health Center mandatory policies and procedures and attends any mandatory training requirements provided, including all infection control standards and policy.
- Knowledge of requirements in Quality Assurance and evaluation process to improve patient care and facilitate monitoring and program planning.
- Physical demands will require long periods of standing and recurring bending and reaching.
- Knowledge of oral anatomy, oral physiology and the principles and techniques of preventive dentistry.
