  • Monday thru Friday – Days & Night – 70% Conductor 30% Engineer
  • Must be able to operate diesel-locomotives, interpret train orders, railroad rules, and pass written tests to verify competency.
  • Monitors the speed, brakes and other gauges to make sure the ride is smooth and is operating correctly.
  • Monitors track conditions for anomalies (such as broken rails, defective switches and weather related problems), inspects railcars in compliance with Federal Railroad Administration regulations of 49 CFR.
  • Responsible for safely and efficiently operating locomotives and trains (of primarily freight railcars).
  • Works with conductor of train to obtain information related to train movement and track authority, acts on instructions received by means of various communication.
  • Provides information on train stops, reports and explains accidents and unscheduled stops and delays.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Must possess a valid Engineer’s certificate issued by a program in compliance with 49 CFR Part 240.
  • Able to pass DOT physical, including auditory and visual requirements described in the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) Regulations of 49 CFR.
  • Must have an understanding of the operation of track switches, coupling and uncoupling cars and performs other duties associated with the movement of trains, cars and engines in rail yards and on the main railroad, and pass written tests to verify competency.
  • At least six months experience as a Locomotive Engineer.
