The Boeing Company is looking to hire an Experienced Virtualization Engineers to join the virtualization engineering team. This position is generally a remote role that does not require you to be on a work site but there may be a very small amount of onsite work needed at one of these locations, Berkeley, MO, Aurora, CO, Chicago, IL, Colorado Springs, CO, El Segundo, CA, Huntington Beach, CA, Huntsville AL, Long Beach, CA, Mesa AZ, North Charleston, SC, Oklahoma City, OK, Plano TX, Ridley Park, PA, San Antonio, TX, or Seal Beach, CA.

We are currently seeking an individual to develop and support virtual machines. This work includes developing emulations of key embedded systems for use on multiple platforms for Boeing commercial and defense products.  Specifically, this role will be an individual who will contribute to activities related to the development and integration of test environments, virtual machines, models and simulations in the creation of high-fidelity digital twins.

Position Responsibilities:

  • The successful applicant will provide project engineering leadership for a team of engineers
  • Assist the program manager in executing cost, technical and schedule management
  • Serve as a project leader responsible for establishing and overseeing cost and schedule performance baselines
  • Lead Risk, Issue and Opportunity Management for the project
  • Drive daily execution of team based project tasks to ensure technical, cost and schedules are met

This position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required.  “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee. 

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience)

  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
  • Experience in developing and debugging software using high level programming languages (C, C++)
  • Experience with computer hardware and architecture
  • Experience working with both Windows and Linux operating systems
  • Proficiency with scripting languages such as Python
  • Experience in developing software for the testing of hardware

Desired Experience, Skills, and Qualifications

  • Exposure to working in an Agile software development environment
  • Exposure to ARM, PowerPC, or x86 microprocessor architectures
  • Exposure to Virtualization technologies, e.g. KVM, QEMU
  • Exposure to Cloud Computing, e.g. Azure, AWS, and containers
  • Ability to work across the hardware-software boundary

Typical Education & Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years’ related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Relocation:

Relocation assistance is not a negotiable benefit for this position. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.

Summary pay range: $96,900 – $151,800
