Role Description

 

The Service Architect role at Eastman requires specialized depth and breadth in information technology expertise in order to design solutions across multi-functional areas  .  Working with a small team of professionals in a Service Delivery model, the Service Architect proactively identifies and formulates potential solutions to improve products, processes, and services.  Leadership and relational skills are needed to engage team members while providing delivery of the identified solutions that are complex and of moderate to high risk.  The impact of this role is at the division, site, and global level. 

Responsibilities

 

•    Design and define solutions in support of IT architecture, security, and partner strategy. 
•    Communicates IT capabilities to business leaders to influence decision making and strategy.
•    Identify opportunities to overcome internal/external business challenges, propose new solutions, and recommend best practices.
•    Engage with software solution providers to improve solution delivery within the framework as a standard offering.
•    Understand current IT solutions that support business processes.
•    Maintain responsibility for the overall service area process documentation.
•    Assess the implications of IT offerings from external service providers on Eastman corporate landscape.
•    Research external software and business solutions to evaluate benefit to Eastman.
•    Responsible for overall integrity of the solution and maintain a strategic view of the architecture.
•    Participate in the IT architect community to influence Eastman’s IT architecture.

 

Education and Experience

 

•    Minimum Bachelor of Science degree is required for this role (Computer Science / Information Systems preferred).
•    Recommended 5+ years’ experience in introducing new manufacturing technologies with a concentration in IoT data collection, introducing mobile devices & wearables into shop floor, RFID tags, edge and cloud computing for manufacturing analytics.
•    Excellent understanding of business processes across process manufacturing, Manufacturing Operations Management Platforms, PLC / SCADA / DCS, Data Historians, Laboratory information Management Systems, and IT / OT Network Integration.
•    Understanding in various I/O, edge gateways, various data ETL (Extract, Transform, Load), equipment controls engineering, integration of automation and non-automated stand-alone machines

•    Broad technical skills with experience defining innovative solutions

•    Self-directed, well organized
•    Willing to learn business practices with ability to balance technological solution against cost and justification, and to mitigate risk
•    Ability to identify wasted effort (process) by use of six-sigma and lean tools
