Platform Engineer (Hybrid)

We are seeking Platform Engineers who are passionate about creating and supporting DevOps tools with emerging technologies to join our team. As a Platform Engineer, you’ll have the opportunity to be on the forefront of driving a major transformation within Capital One.

Responsible for delivering and supporting large-scale activity monitoring solutions. This position involves the deployment and support of the tools the company uses to monitor their network, systems, applications and services. Individuals will work with senior members of the team to understand business requirements from stakeholders and deliver solutions utilizing the enterprise tools.

General Responsibilities:

• Partner with the business and product owners to provide consultancy and translate the business needs to design and develop tools, techniques, metrics, and dashboards for insights and data visualization

• Collaborate with digital product managers, and deliver robust cloud-based data solutions that drive actionable data and insightful analytics to create automated solutions for stakeholders

• Build well-managed solutions, tools, and capabilities to enable self-service frameworks for consumers

• Demonstrate ability to explore and quickly grasp new technologies to progress varied initiatives

• Bring a passion to stay on top of tech trends, experiment with and learn new technologies, participate in internal & external technology communities, and mentor other members of the engineering community

• Encourage innovation, implementation of cutting-edge technologies, inclusion, outside-of-the-box thinking, teamwork, self-organization and diversity

• Utilize scripting languages like Python, SQL, Container Orchestration services including Docker and ECS, CM tools including Ansible and Terraform, and a variety of AWS tools and services

• Use the above to automate solutions based on APIs (ie: Loosely coupled and stable interfaces)

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree

• At least 1 year of experience using build and deployment tools (Jenkins, GitHub, or Artifactory)

• At least 1 years of experience with AWS

• At least 2 years scripting experience in (Python, Spark, and SQL)

• At least 2 years experience with data warehouse tools such as Snowflake

• At least 2 years of experience using a data visualization tool such as Tableau

• At least 1 years experience working directly with business stakeholders to translate between data and business needs

• At least 1 years experience experience managing, analyzing and communicating results to senior leadership

• At least 1 years experience analyzing data to identify gaps and inconsistencies

Preferred Qualifications:

• 2+ years of experience in Agile practices

• AWS Solutions Architect Associate Certification or equivalent

• 2+ years of experience with data storytelling including the ability to explain complex data to non-technical audiences
